Question Pleasehelp how can i tell if she is pregnant?

We have had 2 Red Eared Slider females for about 7 years each and they should be sexually mature and around december we got a male from a freind who couldnt care for it well he started trying to mate with our larger female about 3 months ago and now tha female is digging around through the gravel in her water tank. is she trying to find somewhere to lay her eggs and so should we move her into a tank with soil where she can lay them and how can we tell if she is pregnant and when and for how long do we put her in the tank? what should the tank be set up lik? and i also heard that if she doesnt ever lay eggs it can cause health problems esspecialy if she is pregnant?? whats true and what do we do? pease answer asap she is moving the gravel under water and digging with he back legs or at least trying to
