Strange Posture

First of all, I have two RES hatchlings in a tank that is rapidly getting too small form them (I have plans to upgrade soon), and one of my RES's is doing something odd. I have several large rocks in the tank (one of my hatchlings is smaller than the other and needs a little extra help getting to the surface than the larger one does) and one of the rocks leans against the side of the tank. My larger RES (Yugioh) has taken to leaning next to the rock, in almost exactly the same angle, with his(?) head and front legs tucked into the shell as his hind legs help him maintain the posture. He'll stay like that for a long time, and he repeatedly resumes the posture during the day (during the night he and the other turtle like to sleep under the basking lamp, each one with its head tucked into the other's forelegs). The little one (Sakura) isn't doing this, and I've never had turtles before. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? (Oh, and he's taken to squeaking when the birds chirp, and I don't know if that's normal either.) Advice, help, ideas, or (best of all, but I don't feel lucky) reassurances would be nice.

Mine is about 4-5 years old and spend HOURS all tucked into it's shell on the bottom sleeping. They can sleep a very long time without coming up for air. I would say this is normal and just advise that there be LOTS of space around everything they could get stuck against or under or between. That is a huge danger for pet turtles.

As for chirping?... with the bird?... need to see a video of that one please, please, please!!

Not chirping; squeaking. I can't tell if he's trying to chirp along with the birds, or if he's just protesting the noise (Sakura just drops to the bottom of the tank and won't come up as long as they're making noise), but he'll swim to the corner closest to the cage (they're on opposite sides of the room) and squeak at them. I'll try to get a video of it; my digital camera is really simple and doesn't have a mic.
