Unhappy How long to warm up?

I've had my baby RES's for almost a month now, and they're still hissing and snapping at me (not the same turtle, by the way.) How long before they accept me as a part of their habitat and a friend? Are they ever going to?

Short answer is there is no way to know. Turtles have relatively small brains and are not going to behave the same way dogs and cats do. They may lose their fear of you over time, but some individuals may always be "grouchy" or fearful. Just because their brains are small doesn't mean they don't have individual personality variations!

18 species/varieties of fish, 15 species/varieties of plants - The fish are finally ahead of the plants!
*560 gallons (2120 liters) in 5 tanks -> you do the math.

hey
not quite the same here...but... lol...
my tree frogs...one would happily sit on my hand..and the other would
go into a panic if i even opened the doors to their vivarium.
this doesn't help one bit and you're probably thinking lady posting,
but just saying, creatures are all different, some take longer than others,
and it hopefully is just time.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I hope it's just time. They seem to like each other a lot, sometimes they even feed each other. They love my brother. If he goes near the tank they'll greet him and if he sticks his hand in they'll climb his arms. Problem is he seems to think of them as toys, not pets. Well, I'm the one who feeds them, cleans the tank, and makes sure the water is the right temperature, so maybe they'll eventually warm up to me.

It took my Turtle Fred 5 months before he/she would allow me to feed him by hand and pick him up without issue. He now knows who feeds him does not jump off basking paltform anylonger this took 8 months. I think its just a matter of time... Have Fun!

I don't think that I'd feel so bad about it, but they took to my brother right away. I go near the tank and they jump off the basking platform and hide under it, and he goes near it and they try to get closer to them. Just a little insecure, I suppose. Still, nothing more I can do but wait. :)

do you feed your turtles in their tank or do you feed them in a feeding bowl? I ask this because the quickest way to get a turtle to like you is to feed it , because they love food and if they think of you as bringing them food they will love you too . baby tuurtles need to be feed quite often daily however this will make a mess of your tank water but they really need to eat a few times a day when young ...

I feed them in the tank. I don't have a filter, so I have to clean it a couple times of day anyway, so...I just find it's easier to feed them in the tank.
