Stephen or Stephanie?

So, I originally got my turtle Thomas (Darker in color) before Stephen and I actually let my boyfriend name the little one. The only thing is, Stephen grew so quickly. Thomas is a good 7 months older than Stephen, yet Stephen is so much larger. I've been trying to figure out the gender of them but I can't seem to be positive on it. I tried my best to take pictures, as Stephen is skittish of people and Thomas happens to be the opposite and loves the attention. If anything, it'd be great to know if Thomas is a female or a male. I took him to the vet months back to get surgery done since my ex let him get sick, but once I took him to my house and got him all fixed up, he seems to be happier and a lot healthier, which prompted the whole second turtle idea. But anyway, I just found the forum and figured I'd see if anyone else could give a definite answer since most of my friends think I'm crazy for loving my turtles so much, haha. Thanks in advance. :)
Side note: The first and last photo are Thomas, the others in between are Stephen.

Great shots of the upper and lower carapaces... just need more info...
Females are usually much bigger than males of the same species but my guess is these are 2 different species... Their shells are different... so even if they were both males or both females they would grow at different rates.

Look for LONG toe nails front and back on the MALE. They also have a longer tail with the opening (cloaca) much further down the tail.
The females have short toes nails front and back and a much shorter tail with the opening closer or under the upper carapace.

Hope this helps. Post more pics of nails and tails if you are still unsure!

More pictures

The first two photos are Thomas and the other two are Steven. I think I have an idea but I wanna be sure before I rule it out that they're this or that. Steven is still warming up to me..after nearly 7 months, I know. I try to take him out of the tank and get him comfortable with being around me and not so skittish so it was hard to get a picture of his tail out. Thanks :)

First 2 pics... I'm guessing "Thomasina"... and the bottom 2 pics... "Steven". LOL. Is that what you are thinking??
