New turtle tank - 75 gallon - 02/2008 - 75 gallon setup w/ above tank basking area. Basking area is made out of plexiglass and an old turtle dock to serve as a ramp. There's a 100W Mega-Ray bulb (UVA / UVB) up there. Filter is a Rena Filstar XP3 and there's a 400 gph powerhead in there. Heater is 250 watts. Turtle is a 1 year old female red eared slider measuring just over 4 inches. Fish in the tank are 2 cory catfish and 1 Chinese algae eater. The turtle doesn't bother these fish. Had zebra danios for a few months, but one by one they got eaten. Usually put 25 minnows in once a month. Turtle's diet is mainly greens (lettuce, carrots, duckweed, etc) with occasional pellets. Once or twice a month I throw in a piece of cuttlebone and she eats it in a few days. I drain 1/2 the tank every 2 weeks and clean the filter every 2 months. Feeding her the greens in a separate container helps keep the water clean.

They are not very easy to take care of and require tons of space. Since the video, I have moved my turtle to an outdoor pond which was quite expensive. Being a female turtle, she will grow to be about 1ft in length. So please take these warnings into consideration.)

red eared slider turtle tank habitat 125 gal custom aquarium - My 125 Gallon turtle tank. Home made canopy, overflow and wet dry bucket trickle filter system, low maintenance and very clean. two red eared slider turtles with 5 gold fish and 5 minnows. Built entire system for about $400, got tank and stand almost free off craigs list, had to reenforce stand and paint black to match decor. Rocks I got from construction left overs (free). They love their new basking area and large area to swim around. Tank is undersized by 15 - 25 gallons of water since its 10 gal for every inch of turle so next tank will need to be bigger once they grow a bit more.
